(2005 – 2009 based on the original version)
Natividad and her small Rumberitos fight for the recognition of their Afro-Cuban culture.
With great personal initiative and wholeheartedly, Natividad keeps alive the tradition of the Calderones in the „Reparto Juanelo“ in „San Miguel del Padrón“ in Havana.
Adonis, her cousin, is part of this movement and its initiator since his childhood. Since when he was a kid, he motivated his friends and members of the family in his uncontrollable desire for Rumba and percussion culture.
In 2005, Adonis brought us to „Juanelo“ where we attended the first performance of the kids group of the current generation and filmed it.
The energy and enthusiasm of the kids fascinated us, we decided on the spot to launch a cultural beneficial project.
We are pleased that some of the kids are today active in the professional cultural scene in Cuba and internationally, studied and continue to actively live and share their culture.
The growing up kids witness him as an integration figure who has made a name in the cultural scene in Cuba without external assistance.

He proves that it is also possible to make the breakthrough by somebody from poor background.
Adonis gives them a goal, but is also critical, as all do not have the talent to succeed in the everyday tough Cuban artists.
From his own generation, only a few have managed it.
Naty is a teacher and surrogate mother for many of the Kids in the „Reparto Juanelo“.

In 2005, we decided to support Naty in her aspirations and coach her in her responsible position.
Jenny studied dance and culture from the scratch at different Cuban institutions (ENA, ISA), what makes her perfect contact person and coach of Naty on professional matters.

Jenny studied dance and culture from the scratch at different Cuban institutions (ENA, ISA), what makes her perfect contact person and coach of Naty on professional matters.
She possesses unique extensive broad knowledge about the entire dance and music culture of Cuba. Yet she is very critical, especially when it comes to the accuracy of practicing of the cultural expressions. Also she is a very important role model with her success for many of the kids.

As one of the few of his generation, he chose his way into professionalism and excelled in Cuba amongst many as a soloist dancer of the „Conjunto Folklórico Nacional“, with ballet „Rakatan“ and at „Yoruba Andabo“.
Now he lives in Norway together with his brother Brian from where he passes on his culture.

From the very beginning, Christian took care of all technical issues that arise in connection with the implementation of a documentary.
During hours of working, he transferred immense amounts of footage from videotapes to the computer and selected the relevant sequences and synchronized the material of the two independent cameras.
Together with Adonis and Virna, he developed the ideas and stories for the project and the documentary movie.

Until 2009 she kept shooting together with Christian. The captured material is used for the first time in the new version of the documentary, presenting the project until 2009 in its entire beauty.
She was very much responsible for the complete success of the premier, screening the original version at „Volkshaus Zürich“ in 2007 in front of 350 persons.

With the adolescence of kids and the positive progress of the project LA RUMBA NO VA A MORIR, the older kids started teaching the smaller ones. They gain experience on teaching groups besides the accumulated experience on stage, which will help them later during life.
We were allowed to accompany the group over 4 years and filmed uncountable concerts and presentations.
We succeeded in inspiring the public with charity campaigns, film events and the sale of the original version of this documentary in Switzerland.

Through Adonis as musical director of the group a connection between the professional cultural scene in Havana and the kids project was established. The management of the group made a cultural patronage of the kids group possible. They appeared at different concerts of “Yoruba Andabo” as support band. For the kids from the outskirts of Havana, it is very important to have idols and they find it in Adonis, Jenny and Ranses and their group “Yoruba Andabo”.
